  • Citizens’ Climate Lobby: CCL volunteers come from all walks of life, united by a desire for a healthy climate future and a commitment to working from a place of respect, gratitude, and appreciation. Volunteers are organized into hundreds of local chapters in communities across the U.S. and dozens of online Action Teams based on specific policy interests or identities.

CCL chapters and Action Teams build political support for climate action using five core activities that we call our โ€œLevers of Political Will.โ€

– Five Levers of Political Will

  1. Lobbying Congress: We train citizens how to lobby in support of climate solutions through respectful relationships with lawmakers in the U.S. House and Senate.
  2. Media relations: We train citizens how to engage with and influence the media. We write letters to the editors and op-eds, serve as sources for local climate and energy reporters, and more.
  3. Grassroots outreach: We recruit and educate the public on climate solutions through activities like tabling at local events and giving presentations about climate solutions to other community groups.
  4. Grasstops engagement: We seek to educate and elevate the voices of community leaders in order to better encourage Congress to act on climate.
  5. Chapter & volunteer development: We grow our local groups and improve our skills as climate advocates, helping us push more effectively on the other four levers for building political will.
